As a proud member at Waterfall Club, there is no better way to showcase your club to your friends than take part in a Member ~ Guest Event. Adding to the excitement this year we are pleased to announce a new Couples’ Member ~ Guest event held on the first full weekend in May. This will be in addition to the traditional Ladies’ and Men’s Member Guests that are scheduled in June (see below).
To really get the 2016 Season kicked off in grand fashion we planned this new couples’ event to tie into the already popular Kentucky Derby Weekend. Golf on Friday, Competition golf Saturday and an optional round on Sunday (but included in your entry fee) is just the foundation of the fun that is planned. Saturday after golf we will adjourn to the Lodge where we will join the non-golfing members for the annual kick-off to The Overlook by participating in the Kentucky Derby event including Ladies’ hat contests, watching the “most exciting two minutes in sports”, dinner and concluding with live entertainment and dancing the night away. This will be a wonderful opportunity to invite some of your favorite friends for a weekend full of fun, laughter, golf and great memories. Mark your calendars – May 6 to 8!
The next major event on the calendar following the inaugural Couples’ tourney is the Ladies’ Member ~ Guest Invitational scheduled for June 4 & 5. This is a fun, social event with a hint of competition added. On Saturday the event kicks-off with a relaxing practice round for you and your guest, but with a few on-course contests and lunch served at the Sandtrap Grille. After the practice round all of the teams will gather at Hole #1 for a Shoot-Out where the teams will all play together and teams will gradually be eliminated until we have our Shoot-Out Champions. After the Shoot-Out, all of the teams will gather at the Lodge, along with their guests for an evening of great food, camaraderie and live entertainment.
The competition round of golf is on Sunday, June 5 beginning with breakfast and ending with the awards presentation back at the clubhouse following play. We had such a great time last year and we are looking forward to even more participation in 2016.
A week following the ladies the men will get their chance to show a great golf course to their guests. The Men’s Member ~ Guest Invitational is June 10 to 12. We are mixing it up a bit in 2016 with a new format consisting of teams competing in flights where six Member ~ Guest teams will play five – 9 hole matches against each other broadening the golf portion to allow more interaction between players.
The schedule will consist of:
- A practice round on either June 9 or the morning of June 10
- First round match on Friday afternoon
- Stag Night festivities on Friday evening with special contests
- Second & third round matches played on Saturday (breakfast and lunch included)
- Dinner & live entertainment Saturday evening
- Fourth & Fifth round matches, followed by the Championship Shoot – Out on Sunday (breakfast and lunch included)
- Awards ceremony following the Shoot – Out
We are anticipating at least 18 teams this year for the Men’s Member ~ Guest Invitational which will fill three full flights for the event. It would be great if we can fill additional flights. However, once we get to 18 teams, any additional teams will be placed on a waiting list until we get a total of 6 additional teams to fill out the next flight, so make your plans early and let’s fill the field with members and guests!
